Here's How A Friend or Family Review Should Be Done on Goodreads

In light of recent...discussion...regarding undisclosed friend and family reviews, and confusion on the part of at least one author regarding how wrong and deceptive that is, I found an example of a disclosed friend review on GR I'd like to share.

Others may still have a problem with this review and I respect that, but I don't have a problem with it.  The reviewer states right up front they are a friend of one of the book's authors.  That lets readers of the review know it's not completely unbiased and allows consumers to make an informed decision for themselves how much weight to give the review.  That is fair.

The reviewer rates the book 4 stars and states in the review:

"In full disclosure, a friend of ours coauthored this book. That being said, it was a fun read. Steam punk, time travel, and Russian history all rolled into one. Pick it up! "
